Accent prides itself on always giving every single client the personal touch. Heading up the team at Accent Communications are Sarah Winstone and Janet Burns, who lead every client programme.
A career in marketing started in New York where she trained as an advertising media buyer. Returning to the UK, she worked for McCann Erickson and IPC Magazines as Advertisement Manager of a major consumer title before focusing on public relations. Since, Sarah has worked in-house and at Account Director level in small and mainstream PR agencies, run her own PR business and freelanced until linking up with Janet Burns and Accent Communications.
Sarah is a specialist in lifestyle, fashion and travel. She has worked on well-known high street brands that include Yves Saint Laurent, Timberland, Giorgio Beverly Hills fragrances, Schwarzkopf, River Island, Walkers Biscuits and Hoffman La-Roche pharmaceuticals.
Janet Burns MCIPR first worked in PR and communication in France, where she lived for 12 years. She studied for two years at Bordeaux University’s Institute of Oenology and is a specialist in wine PR.
Janet worked on the generic PR campaign for Saint-Emilion wines for three years. Later, as a freelance PR consultant she worked with leading producers in Bordeaux, as well as with organisations such as SOPEXA, The Interprofessional Council for Bordeaux Wines (CIVB) and the Quebec Liquor Board (SAQ). She also lectured on wine marketing at leading business schools in Bordeaux.
On returning to the UK, Janet headed up the generic campaign for Wines of Canada at Broadstone Communications.
In 1999, she set up Accent Communications.
Janet is adept at setting food and drink in a wider consumer context, having also directed leading UK fmcg brand accounts such as Dyson and Kenwood. She is a member of the Chartered Institute of Public Relations and divides her time between London and Bordeaux.
